Construction Materials Services Project Manager

Job Description: Ninyo & Moore has an immediate opening for a Construction Materials Services Project Manager in San Jose, CA. The successful candidate will manage construction materials testing and inspection projects, which may include earthwork, horizontal development (roads and utilities) as well as structures. As a Project Manager you will interact with clients, design professionals, construction managers and contractors. The position will also assist with the coordination and oversight field activities, including field technicians and inspectors. Project Manager responsibilities will include:

  • Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness
  • Issue progress reports to clients and project team on a regular basis
  • Track project budgets and prepare invoicing
  • Assist with training, supervision, and mentoring of field staff as needed
  • Assist with processing of submittal review and responses to RFIs
  • Assist with proposal scoping and preparation


  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, with 3+ years of construction materials testing and observation experience, or
  • 7 years of experience in the materials testing and inspection industry with 2 or more of those years as a Project Manager
  • EIT Certification desired
  • Registration as Professional Engineer preferred

Preferred Certifications:

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Prestressed Concrete Special Inspector
  • Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety

Required Skills:

This position requires the ability to read and comprehend plans and specifications, and experience with performing CBC Special Inspections. Experience in providing construction materials testing and observation services on grading and paving projects as part of the geotechnical engineering consulting team is a plus. The candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to details. Comfortable with MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook. Strong organization and planning skills. Should have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
