ENR Names Exploration Green Detention Facility the Best Project of 2024!
Ninyo & Moore is honored to be part of the LAN Engineering team that won the distinguished 2024 Best Projects Award in the Best Landscape/Urban Development category for the ENR Texas and Louisiana region.
The Exploration Green Detention Facility is a 200-acre urban green space that is an integrated, natural solution for catastrophic seasonal flooding and holds up to 500-million-gallons of stormwater while also serving as a nature preserve and recreation area. Located near NASA's Johnson Space Center, this former golf course specifically includes 6 miles of 10-foot wide hike and bike trails, two athletic fields, open spaces, and 105 acres of natural habitat. Native plants and 800 trees have been planted to enhance landscaping and wetlands, and nearly 400 species of birds, plants, insects, and reptiles have been verified at Exploration Green since its construction. All five phases of this $49M dollar project have been completed, and the project has already received numerous prestigious honors. The owner of the project is the Clear Lake City Water Authority.
Ninyo & Moore’s Houston office provided geotechnical evaluation, construction materials testing and special inspection services for this award-winning project.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday, December 6 in Houston, Texas and will be featured in the November 25th issue of ENR Texas & Louisiana. Congratulations to all the awardees!
