Ninyo & Moore Receives ACEC California Merit Award for Oakvale Road Realignment Project

Ninyo & Moore, A SOCOTEC Company, is proud to announce that the firm has received a Merit Award from ACEC California in Category I – Special Projects: Subsurface Engineering as part of the Engineering Excellence Awards program for its work on the Oakvale Road Realignment Project in Escondido, California. The award recognizes projects that demonstrate engineering excellence, innovation, and meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.

Presented annually by the American Council of Engineering Companies of California, the Engineering Excellence Awards program honors outstanding engineering achievements across the state. Projects are evaluated by an independent panel of judges based on criteria that include technical merit, complexity, innovation, value to society, and successful delivery. A Merit Award signifies exceptional performance and distinguishes projects that exemplify the highest standards of the engineering profession.

Project Recognition and Community Impact

The Oakvale Road Realignment Project was recognized for its response to highly variable subsurface conditions and its contribution to improving public infrastructure in support of the City of Escondido’s long-term planning efforts. Ninyo & Moore provided geotechnical engineering, field observations, special inspection, and materials testing services throughout the project.

The Merit Award acknowledges the project team’s ability to address complex geologic conditions through adaptive engineering solutions, while maintaining a focus on safety, constructability, and long-term performance. Judges noted the project’s technical challenges and the effective collaboration between the City of Escondido, the design and construction teams, and specialty consultants in delivering a resilient and reliable roadway improvement.

This recognition reflects the depth of expertise and dedication the Ninyo & Moore team brings to complex infrastructure projects. The team is honored that ACEC California has recognized the Oakvale Road Realignment as an example of engineering excellence that serves both the community and the profession.

Ninyo & Moore extends its appreciation to the City of Escondido for the opportunity to contribute to this important project, as well as to the broader project team for their collaboration and commitment to quality. The ACEC California Merit Award highlights the importance of thoughtful geotechnical engineering in delivering safe, durable, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
