Engineering Geology: Earthquake and Fault Studies
The assessment of earthquake hazards is a common challenge in engineering geology tasks at Ninyo & Moore. Earthquake hazard studies are included in the planning, environmental impact, design, construction, and forensic phases of projects. Ninyo & Moore maintains current research data and analytical techniques to assess faulting and earthquake hazards for our clients including:
- Fault location studies to evaluate the presence of active faulting and fault rupture potential
- Fault trenching and age dating to evaluate fault activity and fault recurrence intervals
- Deterministic and probabilistic seismic hazard analysis to evaluate potential earthquake magnitudes and anticipated ground accelerations
- Secondary earthquake hazards including liquefaction, lateral spreading, landsliding, tsunamis and seiches, ground lurching, and dynamic settlement
- Site response spectra analysis
- Seismic design coefficients
