Aura E. Scharf, Senior Staff Geologist

In the four years that I have been with Ninyo & Moore, I have been surrounded by extraordinary professionals whose hard work and dedication are constantly providing me with valuable knowledge and experience. Ninyo & Moore has provided me the opportunity to participate in some very exciting projects. I have had the pleasure of working on the Oroville Emergency Spillway Project in Oroville, California where I was a dowel anchor quality inspector. My responsibilities involved the tracking and reporting of drilling progress, anchor installation, grouting, and proof testing for the dowel anchors installed in the Oroville Spillway concrete chute. I have also worked on the Civic Center Improvements Project located in Malibu, California, where I had the opportunity to participate in downhole logging of large-diameter borings. It was exciting to be safely lowered into a 24-inchdiameter boring to a total depth of 60 feet in order to observe and document in-situ three-dimensional structural components of the on-site geology. Currently, I have the opportunity to work on a project in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico, where I have performed geologic mapping and rock coring of a granitic rock formation adjacent to beautiful ocean views. Overall, I am grateful for the many projects I have been able to participate in, the many places I have seen, and the many people I have met. I enjoy the geotechnical industry and feel like I am part of building our future.
