Ninyo & Moore recently completed geotechnical, construction materials testing, and special inspection services for the Kino South Sports Complex Master Plan project in Tucson, Arizona. The park is 167 acres and includes the construction of parking for more than 700 vehicles; 8,000 square foot concession building; two restrooms; twelve natural turf grass fields; poles for field lighting; a 20-court pickleball facility; hardscape improvements; on-site storm water management basins/water harvesting areas; and utilities.

The project’s relatively large area included a variety of new improvements. The field and laboratory testing schedule was designed to collect the geotechnical data needed for the project design and construction to be completed within the tight project budget. Test locations were selected for multiple improvements and to address the variability of the subsurface conditions.

Ninyo & Moore added value to this project by collecting representative data for the site conditions which could be used for the design of the various improvements, using our local laboratory, providing in-house special inspectors, and completing our services on time and within budget.
