Sweetwater Authority Reservoir Sediment Study
Ninyo & Moore’s services included sampling and logging sediments using a track mounted direct push Geoprobe7822DT rig and the Geoprobe DT325 soil sampling system to capture the entire sediment column to the granitic bedrock.
Project Highlights:
- Geotechnical Services
- Sediment Sampling and Testing
- Barge Drilling
Ninyo & Moore performed a sediment study at the Sweetwater Reservoir as part of our on-call contract with Sweetwater Authority. The purpose of the study was to determine the approximate thickness of the accumulated sediment at selected locations in the reservoir and to evaluate the suitability of sediments for use as fine aggregate in construction materials such as concrete or masonry grout. Sediment samples were collected from ten locations over water from a barge and two locations on land on sediment deposits that were exposed due to low water levels at Sweetwater Reservoir. This project also included laboratory testing and providing a data report summarizing our findings and the results of the laboratory testing.
